Celebrating our brightest emerging artists and established legends, the Queensland Music Awards (QMAs) are a state-wide search for Queensland’s best music.


The 2020 QMAs will be taking place at the decadent Fortitude Music Hall on Tuesday 3 March, 2020. It will be a night of celebrating great Queensland music under the chandeliers!

Tickets to the Queensland Music Awards 2020 will be on sale in early 2020.

Voting for the People's Choice Awards opens Monday, 20 January 2020.

2020 Submissions

Songwriters and filmmakers from all across Queensland are invited to enter the Queensland Music Awards.  

The QMAs Self-Nominating categories include Schools, Pop, Rock, Heavy, Singer Songwriter / Folk, Blues / Roots, Soul / Funk / R’n’B, Country, Hip-Hop / Rap, Electronic / Dance, Jazz, World, Music Video (for filmmakers only). 

Songs submitted for these Self-Nominating Award categories will automatically be considered for the Indigenous Award, Regional Award and Remote Award.

They will also be considered for the Emerging Artist Of The Year (NEW), Song Of The Year and Album Of The Year Awards.

Billy Thorpe Scholarship

The Billy Thorpe Scholarship, to be announced at the 2020 QMAs, is also open for applications.
