Event Details

In celebration of Queensland Women’s Week and International Women’s Day, BEMAC is proud to present Cultivate, a program to empower women from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds through music and skill building, ending with a special performance on Friday March 9 at Queensland Multicultural Centre (QMC).

Do you identify as a migrant or refugee woman or non-binary person? Would you like to share songs and music from your country and learn new music from other cultures? The Cultivate program will be led by two Brisbane-based musicians, Pauline Maudy and Greta Kelly who have a passion for world music and believe that music has the capacity to heal and sustain people through difficult times.

They will encourage you to share music from your culture and give you tips on singing or playing your instrument (if you play one). The workshops will also be a chance for you to meet and play music with other local women, with the performance event a great opportunity to showcase your talents to a local audience.

You will need to be available to attend all 3 sessions, however please get in contact if you experience any issues with transport, times or have any other enquiries.
