The Brisbane dream-pop shoegaze outfit received the prestigious award as part of the 2019 QMA Ceremony.
Lynne Thorpe and Arts Minister Leeanne Enoch awarded the scholarship to Brisbane based singer-songwriter Jaimee Fryer, member of local indie favourites Major Leagues who began releasing music under the Pool Shop moniker in 2016. She'll receive $10,000 to record her next release along with career planning advice from Chugg Entertainment.
The award was presented as part of the sold-out 2019 Queensland Music Awards ceremony, held at the Royal International Convention Centre, Brisbane Showgrounds on March 19.
Ms Enoch congratulated the other finalists - RIVAH, Jaguar Jones and Sweater Curse - and said Fryer 'impressed the judges with her ear for melodies along with her clear vision for the sound and direction of the project.”
